Our Team / Sam Emmersen
Sam brings more than 20 years of research, writing, communications and organizational experience, using her skills to manage key projects. She has been with Better World Group for more than 18 years.
Sam tracks legislation and key regulatory activities affecting air quality, climate change, clean energy and advanced transportation in California. She analyzes potential impacts on client priorities, compiling this analysis into detailed reports. Her research skills include developing, administrating and analyzing surveys and other research instruments.
Recently, Sam completed a landscape analysis on current efforts and opportunities in Southern California to transition the heavy-duty vehicle and goods movement sectors to a cleaner, more sustainable transportation system. Some of Sam’s other major research projects have included: developing case studies of workplace charging for electric vehicles; conducting a clean energy technology needs assessment for the Bay Area and Southern California markets; creating a Community Toolkit for Plug-in Electric Vehicle Readiness; and preparing a sustainability needs assessment for a Northern California community college.
Many of Sam’s day-to-day activities support the firm’s coalition and campaign management work to advance climate and clean energy policies, defend California’s clean cars standards from a federal rollback, and protect California public lands, monuments and desert spaces.
Sam holds a Juris Doctorate from Whittier Law School and a LL.M. in Law and Marine Affairs from the University of Washington.
