Asiyahola is a seasoned advisor, facilitator, and strategist, with over a decade of experience managing coalitions that build power in the community and in the workplace.

In his role at Better World Group, Asiyahola focuses on accelerating California’s transition from internal combustion towards zero-emission vehicles to give other states a roadmap for action and to demonstrate the viability of innovative policy pathways. His areas of expertise include coalition-building, campaign planning, and legal research.

Prior to joining Better World Group, Asiyahola was a legal fellow with the ACLU of Southern California where he supported labor/community coalitions opposed to unjust transportation-related police practices. He played a key role in drafting plans for jurisdictions to prioritize significant infrastructure upgrades for safer roads and to shift non-safety-related traffic enforcement duties to a civilian workforce. He also served as the Vice President of the Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s Traffic Enforcement Alternatives Task Force.

Before the ACLU of Southern California, Asiyahola managed advocacy campaigns for ACT-LA, a coalition of forty organizations in Los Angeles. While there, he served on the steering committee for multiple successful ballot initiative campaigns to advance equitable transit planning and land-use reform in the city and region. Additionally, he managed the team that brought together agency staff, researchers, and community leaders to establish a landmark transit ambassador pilot program that, in less than two years, saved 215 lives and aided more than 1 million transit riders.

Asiyahola earned his law degree from Howard University School of Law and his bachelor’s from Pomona College.
